Bill talks about how each of the 12 steps helps one to not
only stay sober, but to experience the joy of living. He
recounts where his recovery began, in a state of utter
hopelessness. He talks about the prerequisite that is
written in the AA "Big Book" that says, "If you have decided that
you want what we have and are willing to go to any lengths
to get it...[you will get better]." Steps 1 and 2 present
us with a choice. Bill talks about powerlessness and
recovery from confusion.
